Canada–U.S. partnership advances farm biosecurity innovation

Farm Health Guardian (FHG), a Guelph, Ontario-based farm biosecurity software company, has strengthened its U.S. presence through a strategic merger with Nebraska-based NoveTechnologies LLC, combining Canadian business expertise with U.S. innovation in hardware and software development.

Now operating from Omaha, Nebraska, and Guelph, Ontario, FHG is launching Protocol, a biosecurity management system using facial recognition technology to control access to poultry and swine farms in both countries.

This Canada–U.S. collaboration creates local jobs, enhances livestock health, food security, and agricultural sustainability, supporting farm operators and food companies in protecting against disease outbreaks across North America.

Agritrade across borders with Scoular

Scoular is a $7.3 billion Omaha-based agribusiness that buys, sells, stores, handles, and processes grain and ingredients, leveraging global networks and expertise in international trade and transportation.

The company has an office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and a flax processing facility in Richardson, Saskatchewan. The facility cleans and processes large volumes of flaxseed for global feed, food, and crush industries. Scoular also owns and operates a facility in Netley, Manitoba, that supplies grain to the North American spirits industry.

Scoular’s investments in Canada strengthen its access to agricultural products and bring business into this Nebraska company.

Bringing supplies to Canadians and Americans

Werner Enterprises was founded in 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska with just one truck. Today the company is a global transportation provider of freight management and supply chain solutions with more than 7,350 tractors, nearly 25,000 trailers, and over 13,000 employees and independent contractors. Werner ships nearly 20,000 cross-border loads each year between the United States and Canada, delivering to and from every province and 48 states.

These cross-border shipments include retail store merchandise, consumer products, manufactured component products and parts, and grocery items. Werner partners with Union Pacific, also headquartered in Nebraska, to provide effective intermodal solutions that access all major markets in North America. This is one example of how trade between Canada and the U.S. means more business for American companies and more local jobs.
